The official languages of the organisation are French and English. Interpreters must be able to work both ways on bilingual meetings. In addition, other languages (European, Slavic or Far-Eastern) may be used as required. Meetings of the ECMT and the IEA frequently use German, in addition to English and French. The Conference Service makes extensive use of freelance interpreters both for meetings with the official languages of the organisation, as well as for other languages. The Conference Service also provides interpretation for meetings outside headquarters assigning staff or freelance interpreters as required.
