Title: Senior French Reviser or Senior French Reviser/Interpreter

The EBRD is seeking a Senior French Reviser or Senior French Reviser/Interpreter. While the ability to translate to the necessary standard is the prime requirement of the position and the principal criterion for selection, the ability to perform simultaneous interpretation for meetings of the Board of Directors or at similar level will be a considerable advantage.

The incumbent shall report to the Head of the Translation Unit.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following functions:

1. Organisation of the work of the French Translation Section, including translation, revision, typing, proof-reading and other activities related to translation from English, German and Russian into French and ensuring that the above activities are carried out as efficiently as possible and within the deadlines assigned;

2. Translation from English (and ideally one other Bank language) into French.

To these ends the incumbent will:

Translation/revision

· translate directly on to a computer and/or revise all types of text, especially sensitive and complex texts in the fields of economics, banking and finance, providing the final translation within the required time-limits;

· translate EBRD speeches from English into French as required;

· revise/review/edit all outside translations into French;

· assess the performance of available and potential freelance translators;

· organise the work of the French Section and prepare work schedules taking into account the projected workflow and staffing required (for example, at the time of the Annual Report and Annual Meeting);

· set the linguistic standards of the French section and, in consultation with French-speaking Bank personnel, help develop and maintain an up-to-date English-French glossary for use by Bank translators and staff ;

· establish and maintain contacts with the French language services of international institutions and with relevant financial institutions.

If the incumbent is also qualified as an Interpreter:

· Provide English-French simultaneous interpretation for the Board of Directors

· Provide English-French consecutive interpretation as required.

Qualifications and Experience

· Relevant university degree.

· Perfect command of French language and excellent knowledge of English plus preferably one other of the Bank's working languages (German and Russian).

· Ideally a minimum of 10 years translation/revision and interpretation experience (in particular in the financial, economic and banking contexts), including at least 5 with an international organisation or other relevant financial institution.
