Has it been decided whether (and if so when) the proceedings of this seminar will be published?

Dear Organisers,
From what I read, bank transfer is the only form of payment of the AIIC conference fee.
What consideration have you given to participants or from countries where foreign transfer is difficult ?

Please help me register for the conference and reserve 2 single rooms at the hotel mentioned. have not been able to do it by e-mail and credit card.
I already have plane tickets and can't return them.
If not possible, please send postal address to send by US mail.

Many thanks!

Subject: Court and Legal Interpreting

I wish to enquire what status AIIC gives court and legal interpreting. Are these forms of interpreting considered on par with conference interpreting; and if so, why/why not?

Subject: Court and legal Interpreting

At its last Assembly in Dakar aiic recognised that court and legal interpreting is on a par with conference interpreting. Our Committe was able to convince the colleagues that conference interpreters' skills (simultaneaous and consecutive interpreting, sight translating, forensics, ethics) are also indispensable for court interpreters who have to play an important part in the defense of human rights at Court.

The experience shows also that there is no difference between the interpreter's tasks at national and international courts and tribunals, where - in conformity with the tradition of the Nuremberg trials - only conference interpreters are recruted.

The shame is that most democracies are only prepared to pay reasonable fees for a qualified interpreter when the defendents are famous (Lichka) or rich, when the press is bound to attend.

Christiane Driesen mentions that Court and Legal Interpreters were recognized at par with Conference Interpreters in the Assembly in Dakar. Does this mean that Court Interpreters certified through the US Federal Courts or the Canadian Translators and Interpreters Council who also work as Conference Interpreters will be able to joing AIIC eventually?
