The Professional Delegation at the European Commission in Brussels is pleased to inform you that at the meeting held at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre on Wednesday 03 March 2010 between 1:30 and 2:30pm, the following four colleagues were elected by acclamation to the Professional Delegation:
- Gino CINTOLLESI (Spanish booth, Brussels)
- Laurent MARLET (French booth, Brussels)
- Uros PETERC (Slovene booth, Ljubljana)
- Laurence PETIT (French booth, Brussels)
The result of this election will now be submitted to the AIIC Council for approval. Thanks to all four for getting involved!
Having heard the report from the Professional Delegation and the EU Negotiating Delegation on developments regarding the "Revised Employability Coefficient" and following a brief discussion on the issue the ACIs unanimously with one abstention adopted a resolution addressed to the Director of SCIC Directorate A. Please find the text of the resolution below.
The Delegation kindly thanks ACI colleagues for the very good turnout at the Wednesday meeting as well as for their support in our initiatives.

Resolution
The ACI interpreters at their meeting on 03/03/10, held in CCAB, room 1D;
WHEREAS the procedures for establishing the Employability Coefficient and more specifically for attributing the scores for the Professional Competence Factor and the professional domicile are of vital importance to ACI, both economically and professionally;
WHEREAS AIIC’s Negotiating Delegation has reported on its correspondence with DG SCIC’s Directorate A on this matter;
WHEREAS there is concern about the recent reform of these procedures adopted unilaterally by SCIC Management;
WHEREAS social dialogue must continue to be accorded its due role in an administration such as the European Commission;
DEMAND :
1. that SCIC Management immediately launch the required consultation of staff representatives – the AIIC Professional Delegation (PD), AIIC Negotiating Delegation (DN) and, where necessary, the Staff Interpreters Delegation (DI) - on the various components in the recast of the employability coefficient (Quality Monitoring, new weighting for professional domicile and the mandate of the Joint Quality Group) in order to arrive at an outcome satisfactory to all parties;
2. that AIIC’s delegations (PD and ND) report as soon as possible and using the appropriate means on the progress achieved;
3. that AIIC’s delegations (PD and ND) make arrangements to convene a sector meeting if matters are not resolved, so that the sector may consider what further action is required.
