University Professor of Translation Science, University of Innsbruck

The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a University Professor of Translation Science (Main Focus: Terminology Science and English) at the Department for Translation Science (Faculty for Philological and Cultural Studies). The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to represent, both in research and teaching, the subject of Translation Science in general, with the main focus of research being on the Theory of Terminology Science.

In teaching, s/he is expected to also offer introductory courses within the framework of the syllabus of the department’s BA- and MA programmes (Translationswissenschaft) and to supervise BA-, MA- and doctoral theses.

S/he is also expected to participate in academic administration and self-governance.

Eligibility requirements

  • a pertinent degree in higher education from an Austrian or foreign University;
  • a pertinent habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent qualification (e.g. senior lectureship or associate professorship);
  • pertinent publications: Monographs and contributions in internationally renowned academic journals;
  • practical experience in multilingual specialized lexicography and in the handling of terminology data bases;
  • academic or non-academic professional experience is of advantage;
  • evidence of involvement in the international research community;
  • interdisciplinary research within the field of translation science;
  • well-founded didactic competence;
  • experience in the acquisition of third-party funding;
  • leadership qualities and social skills;
  • command of the German language.
  • The main working language is English. The professional command of at least one further foreign language taught at the department is a must.
