Monterey Institute of International Studies-Assistant/Associate Professor of Japanese/English Interpretation and Translation

The Monterey Institute of International Studies, Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, invites applications for a Professor of Japanese Interpretation and a Professor of Japanese Translation, or one candidate to serve as Professor of Japanese/English Interpretation & Translation, rank open, to start August 2002.

The Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, established in 1955, offers MA Programs in Translation and Interpretation, Conference Interpretation, and Translation in English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish. We are seeking a dedicated professional or professionals to teach courses in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation and/or translation: required Japanese A and English A or B, OR English A and Japanese A or B. Other desirable languages: Chinese, French, German, Korean, Russian and Spanish. Extensive professional experience in conference interpretation and/or translation, university-level teaching experience in interpretation and/or translation, a commitment to research, an advanced degree related to the field (Ph.D. or terminal degree in the field) preferred.
