Lectureship in French and/or German and Interpreting

THE UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD
SCHOOL OF MODERN LANGUAGES AND LINGUISTICS

Chair of the School: Professor W.J. Leatherbarrow, MA (Exeter)

The School seeks to appoint, with effect from 1 February 2003, to the second of two lectureships to deliver the interpreting element (theory and practice) in a recently introduced degree programme, the BA in Modern Languages with Interpreting. A specialist in French and/or German is sought for this post. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching, research and/or practical expertise in interpreting, although consideration will also be given to candidates specialising in cognate areas and with a demonstrable capacity to acquire the necessary expertise. The person appointed will also be expected to contribute to other areas of the teaching of the appropriate department(s), and an ability to contribute to the School’s MA in Translation Studies would be an advantage.

Appointment on the Lecturer A scale according to qualifications and experience: £20,470 - £24,435 per annum.

Closing date for applications: Monday 12 August 2002.

Interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held in the week beginning 16 September 2002.
