Seminar for conference interpreters organized by the AIIC Court and Legal Interpreting Commission, in cooperation with the University of Surrey – Department of Linguistic, Cultural & International Studies.

Date: from 17 to 19 July 2003.
The eight seminar modules will cover the following subjects:
- English law in the context of European law
- Differences between the Common law and the Civil law
- The law of contract and tort (obligations)
- UK constitutional and administrative law
- English criminal law
- The concepts of equity and trusts
- A continental European lawyer's view of the Common law
- Employment law and discrimination
- The application of European Community law in the United Kingdom
Maximum number of participants: 50 persons
Deadline for registration: 17 June 2003
Prices:
- £ 342 (€ 502) – full residential package (lectures, accommodation, all meals)
- £ 285 (€ 418) lectures, coffee/tea, 3 lunches, 2 dinners – no accommodation
- £ 204 (€ 303) lectures, coffee/tea, no lunches, no dinners, no accommodation.
The seminar begins with lunch on Thursday and ends with lunch on Saturday. A gala dinner on Friday night is included in options (A) und (B).
As Guildford is located at a certain distance from London, participants are recommended to stay on the campus where convenient accommodation (single-rooms, en-suite facilities) is available for all participants. The price for option (A) includes two overnight stays (Friday to Saturday) as well as breakfast. Accommodation and breakfast can also be provided until Sunday, if so requested, at extra cost.
