The IMF is seeking a French Interpreter/Translator

The IMF seeks an Interpreter/Translator for the French Division of its Language Services located at headquarters in Washington DC.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Interpreter/Translator will provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation both at headquarters and on missions abroad. The incumbent will act as team leader during missions, coordinating interpretation assignments as well as revising and finalizing translations of other team members. Interpretation and translation duties will be performed under the supervision of the Chief Interpreter and the Chief of the French Division, respectively.

Qualifications

The selected candidate will be a professional French booth conference interpreter with demonstrated ability to provide top-quality simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in a variety of settings; a French native speaker with a very solid retour into English, and excellent passive Spanish; will have the ability to translate economic, financial, legal, and statistical material from English into French, meeting high standards of quality within tight production deadlines; a high level of competence in information technology; the ability to work under pressure and a keen sense of teamwork. Knowledge of Portuguese would be a plus.

Educational requirements

An advanced university degree in interpretation and/or translation, or in an economics-related field, and at least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably with international organizations, are required.
