Who are we?
Our profession is international by nature. Its practice knows no frontiers. It therefore makes sense for us to be internationally organised. Conference venues are not chosen according to where interpreters live. In that sense, supply goes after demand, and not vice versa. We joined because we see no advantage in being isolated or marginalised. Pioneer conference interpreters created AIIC 50 years ago. AIIC is present throughout the world: its members are organised by regions, where they have their professional domicile and perform the activities linked to their profession. |
