Voice Coaching for Interpreters

This practical workshop will focus on the essentials of producing:

  • a healthy, supported and attractive vocal tone
  • a clear and expressive delivery
  • a strong connection to material, message and audience

Using simple, memorable practical exercises we will work on:

  • posture
  • tension release
  • breathing for focus and support
  • breathing issues for interpreters
  • tonal placement
  • range and dynamics
  • emphasis, intonation and phrasing
  • articulation

Participants will learn how their voices work and how to care for the voice.

They will learn where their strengths and weaknesses lie and how they can overcome issues and develop their voices.

The group size will be limited to allow as much individualised attention as possible.

Trainer: Ailsa Gudgeon has trained interpreters for AIIC UK and the European Parliament. She has also written for AIIC's webzine Communicate!
