UN - Joint Statement of Solidarity to the AIIC Negotiating Delegation from the 4 United Nations HQs

The permanent interpreters of the United Nations in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Nairobi collectively express their firm and unwavering support to the AIIC Negotiating Delegation in its commitment to the defence and maintenance of established workloads.

The workloads for all interpreters employed by the United Nations, staff and freelance alike, were established and repeatedly reconfirmed in successive resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly.

The UN permanent interpreters, therefore, adamantly maintain that current workloads must be upheld in order to protect the mental and physical conditions required to ensure the highest possible quality of performance.

The workloads for all interpreters employed throughout the United Nations system, staff and freelance alike, were established and repeatedly reconfirmed in successive United Nations resolutions.

Therefore, the FAO staff interpreters, too, adamantly maintain that current workloads must be upheld in order to protect the mental and physical conditions required to ensure the highest possible quality of performance.

UN - Statement of Support to the AIIC Negotiating Delegation from the ICAO

The staff interpreters of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) firmly support the AIIC Negotiating Delegation in its defense of the existing working conditions of our freelance colleagues who work for the organisations of the UN system.

We strongly maintain that current conditions must be upheld in order to protect the mental and physical conditions required to ensure the highest possible quality of performance.
