Urge the UN to protect translators and interpreters: Sign the petition
Translators and interpreters deserve international recognition and protection. Join us in asking the UN to act.
Too many translators and interpreters have been threatened, attacked, killed, injured and imprisoned throughout the world. Just for doing the job they do.
We’ve worked to raise awareness of their plight. Now the world’s governments must act to protect them.
A UN resolution, similar to those adopted to protect journalists, would be the first step. Translators and interpreters too guarantee freedom of speech. Words cannot travel the world without them.
The co-authors of the petition - AIIC, Red T, FIT, IAPTI, CLI and WASLI - represent 100,000 translators and interpreters.
