In January 2019 the AIIC Private Market Sector (PRiMS) invited veteran diplomat Boyd McCleary to provide an overview of the historical context and implications of the UK’s separation from the European Union. His prognosis was not optimistic: “I wish I could offer you a message of support, but I’m afraid it’s a message of despair.”

As Brexit looms ever closer, this presentation provides some context and history to the schism between the UK and the EU, and some of the implications for the interpreting profession.
